Mark is the director of the West Virginia Writers' Workshop, the coach of four North Elementary School girls' basketball teams, the vice president of the Mason-Dixon Figure Skating Club, the co-director of Skate Morgantown's Learn to Skate Program, a founding member of the Appalachian Prison Book Project, a co-leader of the Hazelton Women's Prison Book Club, and the faculty adviser to the WVU Figure Skating Club, the WVU Quidditch Club, and several WVU hockey teams. He is also a former Peace Corps Volunteer and former member of the WVU Faculty Senate.
